Inflammation and Your Gut

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) usually involves chronic inflammation of your digestive tract. Types of IBD include Ulcerative colitis (UC), Crohn’s disease (CD), and Indeterminate colitis (IC) a condition when there is difficulty distinguishing between UC and CD.  Inflammation is a natural part of the body’s immune response. When something endangers your body and damages your cells, your body fights by releasing chemicals that trigger a response from your immune system. IBD causes inflammation and sores on lining of your large intestine (colon) and rectum. If left untreated, serious problems could occur. Diet and supplementation can address immune challenges, maintain normal inflammatory balance, and strengthen gastrointestinal barrier function. Numerous studies have shown high amounts amino acids such as L-glutamine and glycine are crucial for rebuilding and repairing the gut. You may want to consider these nutrients when exploring ways to manage gut inflammation.
